Washington Hospital Healthcare System, Central Utility Plant/Primary Power

Project Description

The Central Utility Plant Project included a 37,000 square foot power plant with a new central plant, laundry, utility tunnel and loading dock. The new central plant is critical in providing expanded utility service, which will allow for the eventual replacement of nearly all buildings on Washington Hospital’s campus.

Cammisa + Wipf provided campus wide electrical engineering services for the Primary Power project. These services included electrical distribution system design, fire life safety system and design, electrical power connections, and miscellaneous power and signal system designs. Specific designs included three 2-megawatt 12-kilovolt generators and related paralleling system with provisions for a fourth 2-megawatt generator, and a campus wide 12-kilovolt normal and emergency electrical distribution system with enough capacity to provide power to the entire facility off the grid.
